Format and Validate JSON Online

Make compact or inconsistently indented JSON easier to read. Parsily parses your input and formats valid JSON with your choice of two spaces, four spaces, or tabs. Invalid JSON produces a syntax error instead of a misleading formatted result.

Open the JSON formatter

How to format JSON

  1. Paste JSON into the input panel, or select a local JSON file.
  2. Choose an indentation style and select Formatter & Validator.
  3. Review the result, then copy it or download the output.

What the formatter checks

The tool uses the browser's JSON parser, so the input must follow JSON syntax: property names and strings use double quotes, and trailing commas are not valid. Processing runs in your browser; no file upload to a Parsily server is needed.
